Vision Leaks

"Vision leaks."  Those are the words from Bill Hybels that I most remember.  If vision is a picture of a preferred future toward which we are moving, it is a  picture that needs to be repainted and reframed again and again.

Stuck in the pastWhy?

Because old ways squeeze out new possibilities.

Because it is easier to travel well worn paths than to chart new roads.

Because laziness conspires to cause us to settle for the status quo.

Because...

I'm sure I can come up with a multitude of reasons why vision leaks.  But every significant vision takes both energy and focus for dream to become reality.  A better marriage?  A fitter lifestyle?  A deeper spirituality?  A more effective church?

Articulating vision; owning vision; living vision - unless we are constantly reminded, challenged, confronted and convinced, vision will leak until it remains no more.

I'm reminded of this as I read about Jesus' last days as he determinedly travels the road to Jerusalem.

Calling.  Commitment.  Conviction.  All an essential part of vision.
